So T.I. got arrested for buying machine guns (and silencers!) where I go grocery shopping which is also about a block away from where I live. This tends to fill me with a mix of the following emotions: pride, fear, disgust, hope, anxiety, and amusement.
Now there are supposedly T.I. supporters out there that say this was all a setup and the feds have been trying to get him for a while...and though that may be true, it's not as though he was lured there under false pretenses and subsequently mistook machine guns for tubes of toothpaste from Walgreens(not to mention that he was riding around with 3 more guns that he is not legally allowed to own in the first place).
Ahhh, how I love my neighborhood...
Another longer trailer for The Golden Compass came out this week...complete with quality daemon footage...and Sir Ian McKellen voicing Iorek...the effects look pretty bad-ass youtube size, hopefully they still look so on the big screen...chop,chop December 7th, let's hurry up and get here...
...and by the way, iwatchstuff.com continues to crack me up...
I'm a Yellow Jacket fan now and always will be. I have immense love for everything Tech and profound loathing for anything U[sic]GA. Mark Bradley's column on ajc.com yesterday very eloquently put into words the plight of the Tech football fan:
Whatever seems the most likely outcome is least apt to happen. (If they played football in the Bizarro World, Georgia Tech would be the flagship team.) It’s a weird way for a serious program to conduct business, but the unrelentingly understated Chan Gailey is, judging not on demeanor but on results, the weirdest coach alive...Here’s a school that lives to grab people’s attention but never seems to know what to do with it. That’s not a balance. That’s a pogo stick...Tech has become the classic upsetter — too gifted and resourceful to be dismissed, too unstable to spend an entire season in the Top 25...They should have won the ACC last season but didn’t, and only two weeks ago they were consensus choice as the best team in a conference undergoing a tectonic shift. Today Tech is 2 1/2 games behind Virginia, which isn’t very good, in the Coastal...At Tech [things like being 2-2 so far this season] happen on schedule: First the buildup, then the letdown. The good news for Jackets fans is that their team never stays down for long. Just as nothing is ever quite as sweet as it seems, neither are matters half as rotten as they might appear...The hard times Tech can handle. It’s the good times that stump this curious band. Only two weeks ago analysts were slotting the Jackets into the Orange Bowl. Today they seem in danger of not going to any postseason game. But that, too, will change. They’ll wind up winning eight games, give or take, and gracing some not-very-exotic bowl. This is Georgia Tech, and that, for reasons unknown and surely unknowable, is what it does.
Whatever happens will happen...but goodness gracious I just sure hope we come out on top Nov 24...
WHAT'S THE GOOD WORD?!?!
As much as I find Talk Like A Pirate Day silly and do not understand how its practice and notoriety has reached beyond the walls of college campuses, I did giggle a bit this morning when going to check flickr and finding the logo retooled to look like this:
...which just makes me subliminally have to go flick-arrrrrrrrrrrrrgh

On another note, the Björk show at the Fox Monday was everything I thought it would be and more...stunning energy, amazing visuals, and soul-inspiring music (the live version of Hyper-ballad was TO DIE for!!) ...all in a days work for her i suppose...
Reason #1624 to love google:
They are celebrating Mr. Dahl's birthday today!
...I thnk once I am done with the Harry Potter books I will start getting his stories in hardback and reread them (they MUST be the ones illustrated by Quentin Blake - hopefully versions without his illustrations DON'T exist, but I wouldn't put it past some publishers) ...
Show us a ticket stub from a great concert you saw.
From probably the most amazing, uplifting, heartbreaking, beautiful, majestic, earth-shattering concert i have ever been to...
...we waited out in the bitter cold after the show to see if anyone did, thankfully jonsi graciously did and signed away...i promptly went home, locked my keys in gary and had to aaa to come pop my lock so that i could get 3.5 hours of sleep before going into work/class the next morning ... it was ABSOLUTELY worth it...
Enough is enough! I have had it with these motherfucking snakes on this motherfucking plane!
